Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal has spoken of his pride in his Moroccan and Equatorial Guinean roots, saying the two cultures have shaped both his personality and his playing style.
Speaking in the documentary Revolució 304, Yamal described himself as a blend of cultures, «which is why my game does not resemble anyone else’s. And I like that». He added: «My personality and boldness come from Morocco. From Equatorial Guinea, I inherited my sense of fun».
His father, Mounir Nasraoui, is from Larache in northern Morocco, while his mother, Sheila Ebana, comes from Bata in Equatorial Guinea and moved to Spain as a teenager. She was 21 when she gave birth to Lamine. His parents separated when he was three.
