Hearts of Oak defender Kelvin Osei Asibey has declared that he is ready to represent Ghana at senior international level if handed a call-up for next month’s crucial 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Somalia.
The 25-year-old centre-back has been one of the standout performers in the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, producing a string of commanding displays that have strengthened his case for a place in the Black Stars squad.
Asibey has played a pivotal role in Hearts of Oak’s impressive defensive record this season, helping the Phobians remain among the league’s strongest defensive sides as they continue their pursuit of domestic success.
His outstanding performances have not gone unnoticed, with the defender winning the NASCO Man of the Match award in three consecutive league fixtures against Port City FC, Vision FC and Basake Holy Stars.
Speaking after Hearts of Oak’s victory over Basake Holy Stars on Friday, October 23, Asibey reiterated his desire to wear the national colours whenever the opportunity arises.
“As long as I am a citizen of the Republic of Ghana, I am ready. Whenever the nation needs my services, I’ll come and serve the nation very well,” he said.
The Black Stars are preparing for a decisive double-header against Somalia on November 12 and 16 as they seek to revive their 2027 AFCON qualification campaign after a disappointing start.
With Ghana searching for defensive solidity ahead of the must-win encounters, Asibey will be hoping his consistent displays for Hearts of Oak convince the national team selectors that he deserves an opportunity at the highest level.
The centre-back’s recent form has also seen him earn recognition in the Ghana Premier League Team of the Week, further highlighting his growing influence and consistency for the Phobians this season.
