Rose on Kroupi fitness, relief of unbeaten run and Foley's ambition

Bournemouth boss Marco Rose has been speaking to the media before Wednesday's Carabao Cup fourth-round game against Aston Villa at Vitality Stadium (kick-off 19:45 GMT).

Here are the key lines from his news conference:

  • Rose confirmed Eli Junior Kroupi, who was out for several months with a foot injury picked up in pre-season, will not feature in the starting line-up. The 20-year-old was an 87th-minute substitute against Manchester United, but the plan is to give him "some more training sessions" and "gradually improve his match time".

  • In terms of rotating his squad for the cup game, the Cherries boss said he has "so many players who are in a good spot" at the moment.

  • Igor Julio is "in a good shape", Alvaro Rodriguez didn't make it off the bench last time out, Amine Adli is "coming back" from his calf injury, while Bafode Diakite and David Brooks are "waiting for minutes".

  • He added: "I will only rotate players if they deserve it. I will never throw a game away just to be fresh on the weekend. I want to win every game and we want to be competitive in every competition, but it is down to me to manage the load in this demanding season for our club."

  • On the mood in the dressing room after building a four-game unbeaten streak in all competitions this month: "We are relieved. We are happy with another three really important points in the Premier League."

  • Rose insisted the whole squad is focusing on "staying consistent and keeping the hunger", knowing they will have to "prove our level again and again" going into a busy winter period.

  • He believes Aston Villa have "quite a clear approach" under Unai Emery, explaining: "I like the way they play. They are hard to play against, but so are we. We are going to be able to compete against them on Wednesday."

  • On owner Bill Foley stating that his dream is to bring Champions League football to Vitality Stadium in a recent interview: "I met with him, we had a talk, he is ambitious. It suits our club to be ambitious, we aren't just happy to be part of competitions."

  • However, Rose added: "We must stay humble, keep doing our jobs and keep working hard. That approach is what suits our club the most."
