League bosses have gone to market for the next domestic broadcasting cycle, covering four seasons through to 2032/33, with bidders being offered flexibility over the number of matches they want to screen.
SportBusiness reports broadcasters have been given the option to bid for live rights to every Premiership fixture, including Saturday 3pm matches, should the SPFL receive a satisfactory offer.
Such a move would depend on the current Saturday afternoon blackout no longer being applied.
Broadcasters are currently prevented from showing live football in the UK between 2.45pm and 5.15pm on Saturdays, with the FA, Scottish FA and Irish FA invoking UEFA rules which allow associations to designate blocked hours.
There is reportedly growing confidence within broadcast and league circles that the restriction will no longer be applied from the beginning of the 2029/30 season.
That could pave the way for a single broadcaster to acquire the rights to every Scottish Premiership fixture.
Sky Sports and Premier Sports currently have rights to show up to 82 Premiership matches per season, around 35 per cent of the total available fixtures.
Their existing five-year agreements run until the end of the 2028/29 campaign, with the next broadcasting cycle beginning the following season.
Any end to the blackout would represent a significant change for Scottish football and could also have wider ramifications across the UK, with the Premier League and EFL potentially able to make their entire match inventories available to broadcasters.
