When Patrick Mahomes was chosen as a draft pick for the Kansas City Chiefs, he had been with his now-wife Brittany Mahomes for years. They dated in high school, and their relationship survived the murky waters of Patrick’s early days in the NFL. But some football fans still have too much fun making fun of Brittany on social media any chance they get.
When they trolled her for her pictures from an Adidas photoshoot, she had to take drastic measures to make sure some of the hateful comments from other Instagram users were weeded out on social media. But even so, people still discuss Brittany’s fitness photos across other platforms.
Although Brittany’s Instagram post is not labeled as an official ad, it might have been an ad or, at the very least, a partnership post with Adidas. Maybe that’s why the post has remained up. But almost immediately after Brittany shared the post with eight posed photos in and outside of the gym, the comments rolled in to insult her face, body, and pretty much everything in between.
On Reddit, someone asked, “Who is this photo shoot even for?”
In a re-shared post on X (formerly Twitter), someone else wrote, “I just came here to make sure I wasn’t the only one to find her unattractive.”
“She’s okay,” someone added. “The photoshoot is corny. I think she’s trying too hard. Just go be a mom and take care of those babies. Unless she’s a fitness model with brand gigs what’s the point of this? For the internet to dog you out so bad that you can’t even read the comments because they’re so cruel? Why?”
A user also wrote, “I can’t put my finger on it, why I don’t like this chick. When I get a bad energy from someone, I just stay away. Lol.”
The hate for Brittany is nothing new, even if it is still just as venomous as it was the day that people got wind of who Patrick’s wife is. In a Reddit post from years before the Instagram hate began, someone asked about the “Brittany hate” in reference to Brittany and Chiefs fans not getting along.
“Mahomes was successful instantly which pissed off a lot of rival fans but Mahomes had nothing about himself that they could hate on so they chose his wife and his brother,” one person explained. “They decided Brittany was too loud and obnoxious like they wouldn’t be the same way if their high school sweetheart suddenly became the best football player on earth.”
Other people chalked it up to diehard fans being too devoted to their love of Patrick and the Chiefs and an unspoken belief that no one and nothing is good enough for Patrick.
After Brittany received hateful comments and jokes made at her expense, she responded to the backlash on Instagram. Well, sort of. In response to the comments she began receiving from keyboard warriors, Brittany switched her settings to limit comments on her posts.
For what it’s worth, Patrick commented on the original post with heart-eye emojis. But for the most part, Brittany might be somewhat unbothered by the backlash. After she started to get trolled on social media, she shared an ad to her Instagram Stories, so there’s that.
