Broncos QB Bo Nix praises clutch teammates for game-winning drives

When your team is arguably the most clutch team in the NFL at this moment, a lot of focus goes automatically to the quarterbacks. They lead the comebacks, they score the points and rally the team when things look grim.

However, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix knows that he has helped captain many of those comebacks, but he also is aware that the anatomy of a comeback takes a village, and the other 52 guys behind him.

"I’ve always felt like I’ve wanted to feel like a clutch player," Nix said. "It’s an important quality as a player when everybody’s looking at you and the pressure’s on. I don’t think you do it individually. If you look at our team in the last three years, we have had 15 game-winning drives. I just think we have a lot of guys with a clutch gene. We have a lot of guys that when the game’s on the line, will just find ways to go score."

Many of the Broncos' comebacks have come down to big moments by several players: running back RJ Harvey scoring a go-ahead touchdown in Washington last fall. Cornerback Ja'quan McMillian with a clutch interception against the Buffalo Bills in January. And just this year, rookie running back Jonah Coleman taking over in the final two minutes of Denver's latest comeback to score the go-ahead touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs.

For his part, Nix isn't worried about being labeled as a comeback quarterback. In fact, he revels in being a player that coaches and teammates can rely on late in the game. Nix, after all, holds second place for the number of comebacks and game-winning drives in franchise history, and has the most comebacks in the league since 2024.

"I’d much rather be known as the guy that wins games in the close ones than the guy that always looks great early and can win but doesn’t know how to close out the game," Nix said. "I’d much rather be clutch than the other way around.”

Although Nix would love to be someone who can put up the type of numbers and points he does in the fourth quarter the whole game through, one can't argue with the results of the longest one-score win streak since the 2008-09 Peyton Manning-led Indianapolis Colts.
