Shamrock Rovers forward Victor Ozhianvuna has taken to Instagram to say farewell ahead of his move to Arsenal in January.
The Republic of Ireland Under-18 international will turn 18 during the next transfer window, making him eligible to complete his switch to the Gunners. Speaking about his departure from Shamrock, Ozhianvuna said:
“After 11 amazing years, I’m saying goodbye to the club where I’ve made memories that I’ll never forget. I’ve met a lot of amazing people at the club, and I’ve learned so much over the years as a footballer, but more importantly as a person and for that I’m forever grateful.”
“I’d like to thank my coaches, my teammates and my friends and family for all the help over the years. I’d also like to thank the supporters for the constant love and support they’ve shown to me and to the club.”
“The last few months have been difficult with an injury, and I’m gutted to have not been able to play, but I couldn’t have asked for a better way to sign off than winning the league and lifting the trophy in front of the fans.”
“As I move on to the next stage in my career, I’ll never forget the club that gave me a chance, and I’m proud to say I’ve played for The Hoops. Forever grateful, Forever a Hoop.”
Ozhianvuna can be deployed in a number of positions, having played for Shamrock as a no.10, on both wings, as a striker and even as a central midfielder.
The teenager made his senior debut at the age of 15, having been sent on as a substitute against Usher Celtic in the Leinster Senior Cup in January 2025. He scored his first goal against Wexford six months later in the FAI Cup.
Ozhianvuna has made 37 first-team appearances in total, including 3 in the Conference League.
An agreement was reached between Arsenal and Shamrock Rovers for the player all the way back in October 2025, so it will have been 15 months between the initial handshake on the deal and the transfer actually being finalised.
As Ozhianvuna mentions in his message, he has been sidelined with a back injury, which has meant he hasn’t played any first-team football since May, and it will be hoped that he is back to full fitness very soon.
