In a flurry of NFL mock trades, the Pittsburgh Steelers have been projected to land a Pro Bowl wide receiver in a blockbuster trade package with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
According to a mock trade from CBS Sports' Brian DeArdo, the Steelers would send a 2027 second-round draft pick and a 2027 sixth-round draft pick to the Jaguars in exchange for Pro Bowl wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. and a 2027 fifth-round draft pick.
"A former Pro Bowler, Thomas has spent most of the 2026 season languishing on the Jaguars' bench," DeArdo wrote. "He would benefit from a fresh start, and the Jaguars may decide to give it to him ahead of the trade deadline in exchange for a high draft pick. This is a good trade for the Steelers on multiple fronts. In Thomas, they'd be getting a 6-foot-2, 209-pound playmaker that would help open things up for [DK] Metcalf and give [Aaron] Rodgers another big red zone target..."
Drafted by the Jaguars in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Thomas began his NFL career with a terrific rookie season in which he recorded 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns, as well as earning 2024 Pro Bowl honors. He unfortunately had a somewhat down year in 2025, recording just 707 yards and two touchdowns. His 2026 production has somehow gotten worse, as Thomas has caught just 10 passes for 117 yards and two touchdowns through eight games. Thomas has been a complete non-factor on offense in 2026 and could use a fresh start.
Thomas would make an excellent addition to Pittsburgh's offense, as pairing his game-changing speed with DK Metcalf would give the Steelers arguably the fastest wide receiver duo in the league. But with Michael Pittman Jr. set to return from injured reserve soon, in addition to the emergence of rookie second-rounder Germie Bernard, the Steelers may be hesitant to trade a premium draft pick in exchange for another receiver.
