The Indianapolis Colts have traded veteran Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for two draft picks.
The Seattle Seahawks are sending Indianapolis a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick.
It has been reported that the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, and Philadelphia Eagles were also interested in acquiring Nelson. He is in the final year of his current deal. He signed a four-year, $80 million extension to remain with the Colts ahead of the 2022 season. Tom Pelissero has reported that the Seahawks will pick up the remaining $9.77 million owed.
If Seattle doesn't sign the Nelson to an extension, he would net the Seahawks a 2028 compensatory draft pick if he leaves in free agency. The Seahawks are expected to receive an extra 2027 third-round pick for Nolan Teasley, who left to become the Vikings' new general manager, as part of the compensatory pick arrangement.
Seattle is also expected to receive compensatory picks for Kenneth Walker III, Tariq Woolen, Coby Bryant, and Boye Mafe, who left this offseason to pursue other free agent opportunities.
It appears the Colts will be sellers at the deadline and are looking to offload talent in a fire sale.
