Alex Scott deal on

Chelsea’s Premier League rivals believe that Xabi Alonso’s side are on the brink of signing Alex Scott from Bournemouth - with an agreement even possible in January.

Numerous clubs have been closely tracking the progress of Scott, with Chelsea and Liverpool the two clubs leading the race for the England international midfielder.

While Bournemouth have publicly targeted a fee in excess of €120 million (£100m), insiders believe that a deal will more realistically take place for €108m (£90m) - and that is a price that Chelsea are willing to pay.

Xabi Alonso has struggled to find consistency in his midfield since the sale of Enzo Fernandez to Man City and this has fuelled the Blues’ desire to sign Scott, In fact, according to the Daily Mail, there is a belief in Premier League circles that a move could be completed as early as January.

It claims that rival clubs believe the Stamford Bridge side have moved into position to secure a £90m deal when the January transfer window opens, despite Bournemouth’s reluctance to sanction a sale.

Enzo Fernandez exit wish confirmed

Enzo Fernandez only left Chelsea to join Manchester City on Deadline Day, but he is already planning his next move.

“I want to return to River at some point, I’ve said it several times. I’m going to return, I’m sure of it. It’s something I really want. I stand by my words and what’s on record,” Fernandez said on Argentine programme Los Edul (via Sport Witness).

“If I say it, it’s because I feel it and because I know I need to return to win things and enjoy the River Plate world for many more years than I did.

“Today, I’m here with a long contract at Manchester City. There’s still a long way to go, but it will happen.”

Xabi Alonso provides Estevao update

Xabi Alonso has confirmed that Chelsea are not in talks to finalise a loan deal for Estevao Willian, despite his lack of game time so far this season.

The Brazil international played a prominent role during his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge last year, but he has fallen down the pecking order since the appointment of Xabi Alonso and he is still yet to make his first Premier League start of 2026-27.

“Yeah, sure, he will play. The season is long and there will be moments for everyone. It's a process for the team, for Este, for myself, but I'm sure that in the season he will have his games, his minutes. And we are still early in the season, but he will be there,” Alonso told reporters during his pre-match press conference ahead of Chelsea’s clash against Manchester United on Monday.

“It's not about attitude. It's been about the context of games, it's been about the start of the season, and he's a great guy. He really wants his adaptation after the first year of injury, but we are still in October and he will be important.”

When asked if there is a chance that Estevao may be sent on loan in January, Alonso firmly replied: “No, no discussions about that.

“It's no secret that all players want to be on the pitch,” the Chelsea manager added when asked whether Estevao is frustrated.

“They want to be playing, and when any of them haven't had enough minutes because of my decision, I have to take the responsibility for that, that they are not as happy as they could be.

“But, as well, everyone has to be ready because in any game they could be important, they could be part of the team, and Este, his training and his attitude has been good.

“Like Valentin Barco, like Marco Palestra, like Danny Welbeck, all these players that have not been that regular, but this is football and this is a squad and this is a team.

“We speak and we try to share our views, he does, for sure. It comes from me because he's young and I need to involve him in the conversation.”

Cole Palmer to Man Utd truth

Manchester United did not initiate talks with Chelsea over a summer deal for Cole Palmer, despite reports to the contrary.

The England international was linked with a blockbuster move to Old Trafford this summer, following an injury-hit campaign at Chelsea, but The Daily Mail have confirmed that negotiations never took place.

Instead, Palmer remained at Chelsea and he has since signed a lucrative new contract valid until 2034.

Antonio Rudiger to return?

Chelsea could look to re-sign Antonio Rudiger when his Real Madrid contract expires next summer, as per Football Insider.

The Germany centre-back will become a free agent next July and it’s reported that Chelsea may look to lure him back to Stamford Bridge amid their continued pursuit of defensive reinforcements.

Rudiger is increasingly unlikely to sign a new contract at Real Madrid and several clubs across the Premier League and Saudi Arabia are keeping tabs on his situation, including Chelsea.
