The Tampa Bay Rays are on the verge of losing the World Series to the Milwaukee Brewers, as they are down 0-3, with Game 4 set to be played on October 27.
In Game 3, the Brewers secured a dominant 10-1 win to get closer to their first World Series. This came after the Rays lost Games 1 and 2 by one run.
With their loss in Game 3, the Rays have given the Brewers a chance to secure the World Series on their own turf.
Dave Portnoy, the owner of Barstool Sports and an avid Boston Red Sox fan, decided to poke fun at the Rays fans after they lost three straight games in the World Series.
“Tampa can stop pretending to care about baseball now. This series was dead and buried after the Rays blew 4-0 lead in game 2,” Portnoy posted on X.

While his assessment may have come a little too early, as Game 4 is yet to be played, fans of Tampa Bay did not take Portnoy’s comments kindly.
The Rays had a chance to level the series after they took a 4-0 lead in the first innings, but costly errors led to their loss in Game 2 against the Brewers.
Going into Game 3, the expectation was that they would try to turn things around, but a massive eight-run fifth inning from the Brewers ended any hope of a win.
MORE WORLD SERIES STORIES
With fans already disappointed after their team’s meltdown in the World Series, Portnoy’s comments seemed to add fuel to the fire.
One fan had jokes for Portnoy. He said: “How did the Red Sox do again?” While another added: “And Boston can’t because y’all got swept by the Team the Rays swept.”
A Tampa fan seemed to disagree with Portnoy’s comments about fans caring. “We care always. Don’t get it twisted,” the fan wrote.
Someone also joked: “Just like Michigan’s season.”
“Don’t be mad Brady couldn’t stand you and Boston and won a title in Tampa,” a fan remarked.
There were many who also heaped praise on the Brewers for their dominant performance. “Impossible to feel bad about team that’s waited 57 years to get World Series Championship #BrewCrew,” a fan’s message read.
Down 0-3, the Rays will have to create history by winning the remaining four games to secure the World Series. No team has ever managed to achieve this feat, which is why the possibility for the Rays to do something like this also looks impossible, especially against a Brewers team that has been difficult to beat all season.
