Arsenal transfer news: Arsenal have started the 2026/27 campaign with little need for panic buying. Mikel Arteta’s side sit second in the Premier League with 21 points from eight matches, following Saturday’s 2-0 win over Everton.
That does not mean the recruitment team can ignore the next stage of squad building. Arteta wants players who can handle several roles within his fluid attacking system. Another technically gifted forward could offer useful rotation, provided the player has a clear route to regular minutes and adds something beyond the options already available.
The current squad makes that decision less straightforward. Christos Tzolis and Eberechi Eze can operate from the left, while Mikel Merino gives Arteta further flexibility between midfield and attack. Any new arrival would therefore need to improve those options without restricting the development of players already at the club.
That recruitment challenge becomes more significant with a developing transfer story from France. Transfer Feed reports that three Premier League clubs have checked on the French attacker, but all received the same response: the 21-year-old is not looking to leave Paris Saint-Germain and is ready to commit his future to the French champions.
PSG’s contract discussions could make an Arsenal approach even harder. RMC Sport, as reported by PSG Talk on 23 October, says the French club have opened extension talks and made an initial verbal offer. Désiré Doué’s current deal runs until June 2029, and he has registered four goals and four assists in 11 appearances across competitions this season.
His dribbling, acceleration and ability to play wide or centrally would suit Arteta’s system, giving Arsenal another creative option against compact defences. However, no reliable figure has emerged for a weekly wage demand or a potential transfer fee.
Arsenal should keep monitoring the situation, but avoid building January plans around a player who appears settled in Paris. Tzolis and Eze already offer credible options, while Nwaneri needs room to develop. Doué would add creativity, yet PSG’s contract push could make a deal prohibitively expensive. Arsenal should assess alternative targets and revisit the Frenchman only if his position changes and the financial terms make sense.
