Can Erling Haaland catch Alan Shearer and become the record Premier League goalscorer?
The 26 year old is currently 21st in the Premier League era when it comes to goals.
Erling Haaland has scored nine top tier goals so far this season.
That now puts him on a running total of 121 Premier League goals.
However, as things stand Alan Shearer is currently without equal in the Premier League era.

121 Erling Haaland (Now aged 26 and playing for Manchester City)
As you can see, the top 21 Premier League goalscorers includes 15 who have already retired.
Harry Kane eventually got his escape from Tottenham and left for Bayern Munich, he was the only foreseeable threat for many years to come disappeared.
There really is only one Alan Shearer and the stats are a bit false anyway, because whilst Shearer is still 47 goals ahead of Harry Kane, it is effectively really 70, as 23 top tier goals that Shearer scored before the rebranding of the English top league, don’t count as ‘Premier League’ goals when it comes to the PL record.
Alan Shearer has been asked by BBC Sport about the Premier League record: “I’m sure it will be broken one day but I will enjoy it while it lasts. If we can get Erling Haaland out to Real Madrid, or somewhere like, that in the next couple of years then it should be alright.”
Another factor of course is what will happen with Manchester City and their Premier League charges. If their appeal fails against the numerous guilty verdicts, they could well be relegated as one of the punishments. If that did become reality then it is difficult to see Erling Haaland staying at the Etihad, so then the question would be whether the Norwegian international would end up joining another Premier League club or move overseas?
