Tyson Fury‘s showdown with Anthony Joshua is a little over a month away, and a decision has seemingly been made on whether Manny Pacquiao will be in action on the undercard.
The fight between Fury and Joshua has been more than 10 years in the making, and many would argue it is long overdue. It finally sees two of the best British heavyweights in a generation square off, both as former two-time world champions.
Neither currently holds a belt after Oleksandr Usyk bested the pair of them twice, but the vacant WBA ‘Super’ title is set to be on the line on December 11th at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
The undercard is already shaping up nicely with former WBC ruler and big-hitting American Deontay Wilder looking likely to face two-time cruiserweight king Jai Opetaia, who is moving up to the banner division for the first time and has so far kept a perfect winning record.
Speaking to iFL TV, promoter Eddie Hearn gave an update on that and suggested it is now unlikely to happen.
“I know that Pacquiao is not on the card but for Joe, we’re ready. It’s a must that he’s on the card in a big fight but it’s up to Turki Alalshikh.”
Welsh former two-time super-featherweight world champion Cordina has not fought since December last year, when he took a unanimous decision over Gabriel Flores Jr.
He is keen to get back in action but it seems a fight with WBO lightweight champion Abdullah Mason is now the one Hearn is trying to make.
