Pakistan has been hosting a tri-series with England and Sri Lanka. During the 4th match, which is between the host and England, the Men in Green Test captain Babar Azam was dismissed by a stunning delivery from Gus Atkinson, who also provided him a small send-off after dismissing the star batter at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

It is a must-win game for the Three Lions, who have lost their first two games against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. This is a reverse fixture for Harry Brook’s side, as they have been in stellar form until this series. They failed to defend the score of 430 runs against the Lankan Lions in their last game, and they are fighting to win this game.

Gus Atkinson bowls a peach to dismiss Babar Azam

The incident happened in the 6.5 over; on the previous delivery, Babar Azam struck Gus Atkinson for a four. However, the English pacer came back strong on the very next ball and bowled Babar Azam through the gates. It was a peach of a delivery; the ball came back sharp in, and Babar tried to play a drive, and it went through bat and pad.

Babar, while playing the ball, did not cover the line of the ball and still tried to play the ball away from his body. He was nowhere, as his front foot was stuck in one place, his back foot bent a little, and that allowed the ball to rattle the stumps. The Test captain was back in the pavilion after scoring 10 runs off 12 deliveries.

Babar Azam recent form in ODIs

Babar has been in poor form in the ODIs in the last five innings; in this format, he has not scored a single half-century. The Test captain’s last half-century came against Australia back in May. This is a concern for the batter who has been their backbone of the middle order for years. He would like to make a comeback.

Babar from the 2025/26 season till now has played 12 innings in which he has scored 424 runs at an average of 35.33, with a highest score of 102 not out. The tally includes 1 century and 1 half-century, with a strike rate of approximately 71.31. This is a concern for a quality batter like him.

Pakistan look to bounce back after collapse

Coming to the match, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bowl first. The top order of England collapsed, all credit to captain Shaheen Afridi, who picked early wickets. He finished off his spell with four wickets. However, Ben Duckett stood tall and scored a brilliant hundred and helped the Three Lions to score 241 runs.

While chasing, Pakistan also has the same problem as the top order has collapsed, and Salman Ali Agha and Hasan Nawaz are at the crease with the score at 96/4. The two need to bat through and stitch a solid partnership and get close to the target in order to help Pakistan to earn a win.
