CM Punk and Bayley are heading back to WWE NXT. Both main roster stars have been announced for the developmental brand’s upcoming Holiday Live Tour in November.

However, their appearances have also brought renewed attention to reports suggesting that their involvement with NXT could eventually extend beyond the ring.

WWE confirmed that Punk will appear in Detroit on November 14 and Chicago on November 15.

Bayley is scheduled for Cleveland on November 13 and will also join Punk in Detroit the following evening.

Could CM Punk and Bayley have bigger WWE NXT roles in 2027?

Both stars have previously contributed to NXT beyond their regular main roster appearances. Punk competed at an NXT live event in Virginia in August, teaming with Myles Borne and Tavion Heights to defeat The Vanity Project. He has also visited the Performance Center in Orlando for rehabilitation and to offer guidance to developing talent.

Even Grayson Waller, who previously questioned Punk’s visits to NXT, has acknowledged that the former WWE Champion has been helpful to performers at the Performance Center.

According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, WWE could be considering a greater backstage presence for both Punk and Bayley as part of potential structural changes in 2027.

Alvarez suggested Bayley could become involved depending on her career plans, while Punk might also receive additional creative input. Shawn Michaels is reportedly the leading candidate to replace Bruce Prichard as Executive Director of Creative Writing and Talent after WrestleMania 43. AJ Styles could potentially take on a larger NXT role.

The report also suggested that WWE’s ID program could receive a fresh direction early next year. However, no official appointments or changes involving Punk and Bayley have been announced.

Meanwhile, Punk has plenty to handle on the main roster. A grudge match against Kevin Owens beckons in the November 7 episode of SmackDown.

Their upcoming NXT appearances will give fans another chance to see two established WWE stars alongside developmental talent. Whether those visits eventually lead to bigger responsibilities behind the scenes remains to be seen.
