Julio Enciso scored for the second successive match as Ipswich Town fought back during a topsy-turvy 2-2 draw with Hull City at the MKM Stadium.
Both newly promoted sides led at stages of the contest, with the Blues taking the lead in the first half only for the Tigers to respond with two goals of their own after the break.
Enciso’s wonderful strike ensured the spoils were shared on Humberside, cancelling out Oli McBurnie’s free-kick that had sparked Hull into the lead for the first time.
Florentino Luís scored his first Town goal during a dominant first half, only for the home side to level through Tim Iroegbunam after some lacklustre defending.
Hull claimed a fourth straight home draw on what was the first-ever Premier League meeting between the two clubs, the 1,456th unique fixture in English top-flight history.
The Blues, who join their opponents on 11 points after nine matches of the season, host in-form Bournemouth at Portman Road next Sunday.
FLORENTINO STRIKES
As has been typical of Hull all season, the home side were more than happy to let Town have the bulk of the ball in the opening stages without any clear-cut openings.
That was until the Blues made their possession count midway through the first half, scoring first in a game for the first time since the trip to Old Trafford in August.
Abdoul Ouattara drifted inside and breezed beyond two Tigers defenders, and Florentino was on the end of his poked pass before rifling high into the near post.
The lead could have been extended when Enciso had the ball in the net following a corner routine, but he was denied his second goal in as many matches due to a foul in the box.
Referee Thomas Kirk deemed there had been some infringement from a Blues attacker, which appeared unclear, as Enciso headed into the net after a moment of pinball in the area.
Some important defending from Issa Diop kept Town in the lead, but Hull only had one shot from Iroegbunam’s wayward volley to count for before the break.
BACK AND FORTH
Tigers boss Sergej Jakirović, clearly unimpressed by what he had seen, switched to a back four at half-time, replacing defender John Egan with creative midfielder Matt Crooks.
It clearly made the difference as they found the leveller 13 minutes later, although they were aided by some dreadful Blues defending.
Iroegbunam raced away down the right with Dara O’Shea back-pedalling, allowing the Hull midfielder to gobble up the turf and find the near post.
Things got worse for Gary O’Neil’s side as they fell behind after Florentino was penalised for a foul on Mohamed Belloumi right on the edge of the penalty area.
Tigers talisman McBurnie assumed responsibility and finished the free-kick low into the bottom corner past Christian Walton to raise the volume inside the MKM Stadium.
But just as Hull’s tails were up, they were punished through a moment of magic from Enciso to score for a second successive match.
The Paraguay international’s neat footwork allowed him to skip past McBurnie and Iroegbunam, before curling an exquisite left-footed strike into the net.
Belloumi and Town substitute Daizen Maeda went close in the final minutes, as both sides had to settle for a point.

Suffolk News Man of the Match – Julio Enciso: Town’s energetic forward often blows hot and cold, but this was another game where the Paraguayan was on the right side of the line. Looked a threat throughout, and it was his moment of class that ensured the Blues came away from East Yorkshire with a share of the spoils.
