Manchester City, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are among the clubs pursuing Villarreal’s Moussa Koné. 

The 17-year-old has been on Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid’s radar since he was representing Villarreal Juvenile B.

His performances saw the La Liga side take action by offering him a contract with an improved salary earlier this year. As part of this, he got a promotion to Villarreal Juvenile A, which is their U19 side.

Manchester City, Barca and Real Madrid face threat 

The midfielder has made three appearances in the UEFA Youth League, while only playing 56 minutes. In addition to this, he made six more appearances for them this season.

His performances and potential would have seen the likes of Manchester City, Barcelona, Real Madrid and others show interest.

Africa Foot states Moussa Koné is one of the ‘brightest prospects’ in Spanish football. Enzo Maresca’s side, the La Liga winners, Los Blancos and PSG are all monitoring him.

The Citizens and three other top clubs have to overcome the biggest obstacle, Marseille, to secure his services.

Need to be wary of Marseille 

The Ligue 1 side are showing strong interest in the young Spaniard and have made him their priority target. The report further adds Marseille have held talks with his agent over a potential move.

There’s no mention of a price or of the Yellow Submarine’s stance on letting him leave soon.

In May, Moussa Koné’s agent Modibo Sissoko told Africa Foot that his renewal was until 2029 and it includes a €50m release clause. At that time, he also confirmed Real Madrid’s interest, which his client didn’t entertain.

“There are many clubs that are still interested in him, such as Juventus and Real Madrid among others… Despite everything, we decided that he should continue with Villarreal, and then we will see what happens next,” he said.

It’s quite possible Sissoko may have now leaked about Manchester City, Barcelona, Real Madrid and PSG pursuing his client to the same outlet.

Besides Koné, Barcelona are trying to snatch Philadelphia Union’s Cavan Sullivan from the Etihad club’s clutches. He has a pre-agreement with Manchester City to join them after he turns 18 years of age next September.
