Chelsea youngster Josh Acheampong has made a fine start to the season, which has not gone unnoticed.
Acheampong has appeared in all but one of Chelsea’s Premier League games, making four starts. He is already halfway to equalling his total number of starts from the previous Premier League campaign.
The defender is an England Under-21 international, but a call-up to the senior squad may not be far away. He has earned eight caps for the Young Lions so far and scored one goal.

It seems England coaches have been raving about Acheampong. According to TEAMtalk, coaches within the England set-up believe the 20-year-old is one of the best prospects to emerge in recent years.
The same outlet has also claimed that an England senior call-up could be on the horizon for Acheampong. There is another international break coming up, with the Three Lions set to take on Croatia and Spain again next month.
During the last international break, England thrashed Croatia 7-0 but lost 3-2 to Spain in the UEFA Nations League. Acheampong will now be hoping that he can earn a call-up and feature in the reverse fixtures.
Despite receiving starting opportunities this season, Acheampong’s camp are wary about him signing a new contract.
In the summer, Acheampong was the subject of interest from Manchester United and several other clubs. If the centre-back wants to leave Chelsea, he will have plenty of options.
Acheampong’s most recent start for Chelsea came in their 2-0 win over Everton last weekend, with the England Under-21 star impressing on the day. No player made more defensive contributions than Acheampong, who managed 10, according to Sofascore.
In total, Acheampong made six clearances, three successful tackles and one interception. His passing was not too bad either, while he was also able to carry the ball.
Acheampong misplaced just two passes throughout the 90 minutes and completed two of the four dribbles he attempted. Chelsea kept their first Premier League clean sheet in nine months, and Acheampong certainly played his part in the team achieving that.
