Harry Kane in unwanted 14-year first as Borussia Dortmund stun Bayern Munich

Harry Kane missed a penalty as Bayern Munich dropped points in the 2-2 Der Klassiker draw with Borussia Dortmund.

The newly-crowned Ballon d'Or winner smashed the woodwork with his effort from 12 yards early in the second half at the Allianz Arena with Bayern leading 1-0.

Kane has only failed to convert a spot-kick 16 times during his career, whilst netting 113 of the total 129 he has taken.

However, the striker's penalty miss on Saturday evening was the first in the Der Klassiker between Bayern and Dortmund since 2012.

Bayern legend Arjen Robben was the last player to squander such an opportunity during a 1-0 Bundesliga defeat in April 2012.

Bayern held to draw by Dortmund

Konrad Laimer put the hosts in front in the 33rd minute shortly after Dortmund had a Jobe Bellingham goal disallowed for a foul.

Serhou Guirassy levelled on the hour mark, only for Kane to make up for his penalty miss by assisting Dayot Upamecano.

He headed the ball across the face of goal for the defender to pick up an eighth assist of the campaign.

Dortmund were close to their first defeat of the season, but saved by Fabio Silva with a minute to go thanks to his well-taken shot.

The historic rivals are level on 18 points with five wins and three draws, although Bayern are top of the Bundesliga on goal difference.

Bayern have lost only one of their last 18 competitive meetings with Dortmund, winning 13 and drawing four.

They are also unbeaten in their last 22 Bundesliga matches as leaders against the second-placed side, the league's longest-ever run.

Before kick-off, Kane was given a hero's welcome by Bayern fans as they celebrated his Ballon d'Or win.

The England captain walked out onto the pitch and showcased the iconic golden ball to the crowd.

"I'm extremely proud to be a Bayern player," he said. "I hope we win many more titles together."

It was revealed on Friday that Kane won the 2026 Ballon d'Or ahead of Kylian Mbappe by just 28 points.

This is the fourth-closest voting gap in the prestigious award's 70-year history.

Kane is now the fifth Englishman to win the award after Sir Stanley Matthews, Sir Bobby Charlton, Kevin Keegan and Michael Owen.
