The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a specially edited video on the eve of the 1st ODI of the ongoing bilateral series between the India National Cricket Team and the New Zealand National Cricket Team. The video depicted the vision and aim of India captain Shubman Gill.

Team India will start the 5-match ODI series after winning the five-match T20I series against New Zealand. The first ODI is set to be held tomorrow (November 4) at the Eden Park in Auckland. Ahead of the match, Shubman Gill said that his team is capable of dominating any team across the world.

I feel very good: Shubman Gill, ahead of IND vs NZ 1st ODI

Shubman Gill made his international debut for India in an ODI match against New Zealand on January 31, 2019, in Hamilton. The batter still remembers his debut match and is confident of collecting more memories when he goes back home after the conclusion of the series.

"Playing here at Eden Park is always very exciting. I made my international debut here in New Zealand, so I have a lot of good memories here. Whenever I come here, I feel very good. Hopefully, when I go back after a month, I will take a lot more good memories from here," said the Team India skipper.

Shubman Gill on the challenges in New Zealand

Shubman Gill emphasized that the fielding setup will be one of the biggest challenges he may have to face during the matches in New Zealand because of the different dimensions of the grounds.

A ground like Eden Park has a shorter boundary length, which makes it easy for the batters to take on the bowlers, but makes the conditions tough for the skippers. For Gill, placing the right players in the right places on the ground will be a challenging task.

"The dimensions are a bit unusual, and I think it will be a challenge for us to find the right placement for the fielders. Hopefully, we will be able to identify those pockets sooner rather than later," Gill said.

As the batters are likely to take crucial roles in the series, Shubman Gill and the other batters will be on the grounds with their individual game plans in their minds. Gill will pay extra attention to the spinners.

"As a batsman, every batter goes in with a plan, especially when facing a spinner. You have to decide whether to go for the shot if the ball is in your slot or pitched up on the front foot. But I think it is very player-specific. Every player has their own plans. For me, it is definitely very tempting, seeing that the straight boundary is only around 50-55 metres," he added.

Team India capable of beating any other team: Shubman Gill, Team India captain

The India skipper further mentioned in the video that no matter what the conditions are, the Indian cricket team is capable of defeating any team across the globe. He confirmed that the young players of the team will gain a lot of confidence in New Zealand if they can perform well in the series.

"I feel that any Indian team playing on the ground is capable of beating any other team. Young players will gain a lot of confidence if they perform here. We will also get a lot of confidence that the team we want for the World Cup is achievable. Even if we don't get everything right for some reason, we will definitely find a way," Shubman Gill opined.

"If we win the series here, it will be a big confidence booster for us," he added.
