Forest Green Rovers CEO Dane Vince says the club is still working through planning conditions and outstanding A419 access issues, as he outlines plans for fan engagement, matchday improvements and the 2027/28 season.
In his latest club website update, Vince, the son of owner Dale acknowledged the importance of the proposed development while stressing that key planning and access issues still need to be resolved.
“We are still working through the huge number of planning conditions and, of course, still need to resolve the access/A419 issues that Dale (Vince) spoke about late last year,” the update states.
“We would all like to move to J13 as quickly as possible, but the club must get the overall design/master plan spot on.”
The update also sets out the club’s plans to improve the matchday experience, strengthen relationships with supporters and prepare for the 2027/28 campaign, despite the current season still being well underway.
Fan engagement is another key focus, with the club highlighting its Fan Advisory Board, Fan Elected Director, open training sessions, in-person fan forums, social media initiatives and online fans’ forum.
While the overall response from supporters has been positive, Vince acknowledged there was still room for improvement.
“I have spoken to many supporters on matchdays, and although the overall view is very positive, it is clear there is still scope to improve; we can and always should aim to do better.”
The club announced its new Fan Advisory Board in September, formalising its regular meetings with the Supporters Club and inviting other fans to express an interest in joining.
Since then, several supporters have come forward and met with the club.
Vince said he was optimistic that three supporters would join the board.
The club also wants to expand its engagement work through more creative content, an annual Fan Report and improved supporter events.
Forest Green’s Football on Prescription programme has returned for the 2026/27 season, with an improved and upgraded programme intended to build on the previous campaign’s success.
The club says it has also introduced several changes this season to improve the matchday experience, streamline operations and attract new supporters.
And planning for the following campaign has already begun.
Vince said work was under way on plans for 2027/28, including season tickets, matchday improvements and relationships with existing and prospective commercial partners.
The club is also beginning recruitment for a new Fan Elected Director, a position previously held by Phil Doble from 2021 until his death last year.
Paying tribute to Doble, Vince described him as “a brilliant person to work with”, adding that he had been keen and passionate and had worked across multiple areas of the club to help it “grow, develop and improve”.
An updated job description has been created for the role, with the successful candidate set to join the main Forest Green Rovers board.
The Fan Elected Director will act as a link between supporters and the club, helping ensure fans’ voices are heard at board level and contributing ideas to the club’s future development.
