Binfield FC crash to 5-2 defeat at Hayes & Yeading

On a pitch that had taken 36 hours of heavy rain, the hosts struck first in the eighth minute, when ex-Mole Amari Fashnau crossed for Amos Nasha to turn past keeper CJ Fubler. T

Binfield levelled in the 20th minute through Monty Brady; his fifth goal in as many games at the SkyEx Stadium.

Five minutes later, Brandon Campbell put Binfield ahead, but Remy-Lee Bennison levelled it back in the 38th minute.

The Moles had the wind and rain behind them going into the second half, but within three minutes they found themselves trailing again, with Dan Rowe scoring.

Poor defending then gifted Hayes two more, from Fashnau in the 72nd minute and former Ascot star Brendan Matthew 10 minutes later.

Manager Ross Weatherstone commented: "After a solid, fluent first half, scoring two fantastic goals, it was disappointing to see the levels we produced as a collective drop, in and out of possession in the second half, where we gift-wrapped the game for Hayes.

The Moles are due to host mid-table Porchester this Saturday.

* ASCOT United, now in the bottom four of the table, gave a good account of themselves in a 2-1 defeat by South Central leaders Bognor Town Regis at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday.

After conceding 11 goals in their previous two games, they changed goalkeepers, with Hugh Scott making his debut. He was beaten for the first time in the eighth minute by Lennie Smith’s low strike from the edge of the area.

Soon after, Bognor hit the woodwork, and Scott made a good save to deny Kaya Tshaka.

Ascot came more into the game and Andrio Brandao, who recently rejoined the club from Hanwell Town, struck a post before Jaye Long equalised in the 25th minute.

However, Timi Abraham restored Bognor’s lead in the 37th minute, earning them their 10th win in 13 league games.

Scott saved well from Tshaka before saving Ethan Robb’s late penalty after Jacob Wilson had brought down Louie Williams. It was Wilson's second bookable offence and he was sent off in the 84th minute.

Last Tuesday, the Yellas crashed out of the Velocity League Cup, losing 4-1 at home to Kingstonian.

Sam Evans, a new signing from Farnham, took just 85 seconds to find the net and Eddie Simon doubled the lead two minutes later. Evans completed his hat-trick with goals in the 44th and 62nd minutes.

TJ Mboge impressed for Ascot and he hit the bar before bagging a consolation goal in the 75th minute.

The win wasn't sufficient to keep Scott Harris in the Kingstonian manager's job as hours later he was relieved of his duties; the third time he had exited the club.

Ascot are away to fellow strugglers Stoneham this Saturday and then host Hayes & Yeading next Tuesday (November 3).
