FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours and gossip from 31 October, including the latest updates on Fermin Lopez, Jamie Gittens and Lennart Karl.

Article continues under the video

Man Utd make Fermin enquiry

Man Utd have enquired about Barcelona attacker Fermin Lopez and Atletico Madrid midfielder Pablo Barrios, Matteo Moretto understands.

The Red Devils used their recent Champions League trip to Atletico Madrid as an opportunity to hold meetings and sound out possible transfer opportunities, with the club expected to be very active in 2027.

Lopez, who has also been strongly linked with Chelsea, and Barrios were two players Man Utd held preliminary discussions over, but neither is expected to be available anytime soon.

Gittens deal reignited

AS Roma have rekindled their interest in Chelsea winger Jamie Gittens, as per Tuttomercatoweb.

The Giallorossi already pursued the England youth international in the summer, but they couldn't get a transfer over the line. They also failed to bring in any other key winger targets, so they are expected to be busy in January.

Gittens was a bench warmer in the Premier League in Xabi Alonso's first games in charge and has now missed several weeks of action due to injury. He could be open to a January move if his struggles for regular minutes continue.

Karl calls

Potential suitors have requested to be kept informed on the situation of Bayern Munich wonderkid Lennart Karl, Christian Falk reports.

The 18-year-old enjoyed a breakout season in 2025/26, but consistent opportunities have been harder to come by so far in this new campaign. Moreover, Karl was recently criticised by honorary Bayern president Uli Hoeness.

This has given rise to reports that his long-term future at the club is uncertain, and Falk says that the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd have "made calls to ascertain what’s going on with the player."

Araujo opportunity

Liverpool have been offered the chance to make Ronald Araujo's loan from Barcelona permanent in January, TEAMtalk claims.

The Reds hold a €55 million purchase option for the summer, but they have been approached by Barcelona to see if they would be interested in signing Araujo already in the winter. The Catalans need funds to make defensive signings of their own.

Liverpool are satisfied with the Uruguay international's impact since his arrival in the summer, but any mid-season move is only expected to happen if Barcelona are willing to compromise on the price. The Anfield club will not pay €55m for Araujo.

Man Utd eye Bassey

The same outlet also writes that Man Utd are keeping tabs on Fulham defender Calvin Bassey.

The Red Devils are monitoring several options ahead of an "extensive" defensive reshuffle in 2027 and have begun exploring a possible move for the Nigeria international. Bassey is out of contract in the summer, but Fulham have a one-year extension option.

Fulham are keen to hand the centre-back a new contract, but interest in his services is growing as he enters his prime. The 26-year-old is also being followed by Newcastle, Everton and teams from the continent.
