With NXT Halloween Havoc fast approaching, fans could be about to see the last round of main roster call-ups ahead of Crown Jewel.
Taking place on October 31, NXT Halloween Havoc will see an appearance from Danhausen, assuming he survives WWE SmackDown and what GUNTHER has planned for the star.
With NXT championship matches already confirmed for Halloween Havoc, absences may be an indicator of potential main roster call-ups:
In title action, Kelani Jordan defends the NXT Women’s Championship against Wren Sinclair, while Grayson Waller puts the NXT Championship on the line against Tony D’Angelo.
Zilla Fatu faces Charlie Dempsey in a “Spin The Wheel, Make The Deal” match, while Naraku takes on Shiloh Hill, and Zaria faces Izzi Dame.
Not featured on the current Halloween Havoc card are matches for the NXT Tag Team Championship or North American Championship, both held by members of Vanity Project.
With Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes in the semifinals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, a win over Noam Dar & Romeo Moreno on tonight’s NXT would see them progress to the final against the winner of The Wagner Brothers vs. Hank & Tank.
This week’s NXT also sees Jackson Drake defend the North American Championship against EK Prosper.
After her vignette played on last week’s NXT, Chantel Monroe may have her eyes on Vanity Project, but the faction may be looking towards a main roster call-up, having demonstrated their potential from their time as members of the WWE ID program.
Naraku may be a recent addition to NXT, having made his debut in April of this year, but he is a star that would be a perfect fit for Bakusai on SmackDown, aligning him with Shinsuke Nakamura and Kyoki, known to NJPW fans as Hiromu Takahashi. Kyoki and the former Evil have a history in New Japan that could make for some interesting opportunities on the main roster.
Tony D’Angelo has been the subject of main roster speculation in the past and has addressed his standing in NXT, seeing as preparing him for such an opportunity. Having abandoned much of his Mafia-themed character, it feels like D’Angelo is being prepared for a Raw or SmackDown debut in a form that would be a better fit for the main roster, with Halloween Havoc offering perfect opportunity to facilitate the move.
Zilla Fatu is surely Bloodline-bound and has been since day one in WWE. A member of the Anoaʻi, the son of Umaga, the star signed with WWE earlier this year, making an instant impact on NXT. While he may not have captured any championships, there are plenty of arguments for calling up the star to join his family in their feud against The 946, particularly with Survivor Series: WarGames approaching.
For Baylor and Smokes, they hold the NXT Tag Team Championship and the easiest path to have them defend and potentially drop the titles would be with a loss against Dar & Moreno. A crisis of confidence coming out of that match, leading to an emboldened challenge to another tag team would be an easy solution ahead of a main roster call up.
NXT Halloween Havoc currently sits at five matches, which isn’t unusual for WWE PLEs, although last year’s event saw six on the card, with only one not featuring a championship on the line.
