This past offseason, the Alabama Crimson Tide had four players depart the program via the NCAA transfer portal.
That group of players included one of Alabama's primary starters from a year ago, as well as another who started games in the frontcourt. The two others were guards who came off the bench, with all four of those players set to make an impact this upcoming season with their respective new teams.
This past offseason also marked the fifth consecutive year that Alabama has seen at-least four players enter the transfer portal at seasons end. As a result, there will be over 10+ former Alabama transfers scattered across the sport this upcoming season, a few of which are set to play against the Crimson Tide within the SEC.
Here is a look at where former Alabama transfers will play college basketball this season at the Division I level, as well as in which conference.
The ACC is headlined by Jarin Stevenson returning for his second season at North Carolina after starting 25 games a year ago with the Tar Heels, averaging 8.1 points per game in a career-year. Jalil Bethea also transferred over the offseason to Pittsburgh where he is expected to be among the Panthers' top guards.
After transferring from Alabama this past offseason, both of Aiden Sherrell and Taylor Bol Bowen will play in the Big Ten this season at Indiana and Oregon, respectively. Both are expected to play significant roles this year as potential starters, with Sherrell in particular likely to be among the top frontcourt players in the Big Ten.
Two former Alabama players return to the state this season at mid-major programs in Naas Cunningham and Sam Walters at Jacksonville State and Troy, respectively. Kris Parker will also play at Kennesaw State this season under former Alabama assistant Antoine Pettway.
Derrion Reid is back for a second season at Oklahoma after averaging 11.7 points per game in 37 games started last year, while Mouhamed Dioubate transfers within the SEC for a second time, joining LSU after a year at Kentucky. As for the guards, Davion Hannah is likely set for a breakout season at South Carolina, while Rylan Griffin is looking for a fifth season of eligibility at Texas A&M.
