Sandro Tonali has been good. That relationship with Mateus Fernandes seems to be growing. Of course, today in different circumstances against one less player, but it hasn't all been easy. That is one sign of improvement under Roberto de Zerbi in recent weeks.
Aston Villa make one change from their last Premier League game, the 2-1 home win over Manchester City, as Leon Goretzka starts and Joao Gomes is among the substitutes.
Aston Villa XI: Suzuki, Maatsen, Torres, Lindelof, Cash, Goretzka, Kamara, Manzambi, McGinn, Alysson, Jackson.
Subs: Bizot, Mings, Harwood-Bellis, Barkley, Buendia, Gomes, Garnacho, Mbaye, Madjo.
One change too for Fulham from their last Premier League outing, the 1-0 victory at Coventry, as Sander Berge starts in midfield with Hugo Larsson dropping to the bench.
Fulham XI: Leno, Robinson, Bassey, Affengruber, Castagne, Charles, Berge, Iwobi, King, Bobb, Garcia.
Subs: Lecomte, Andersen, Tete, Angel, Palacios, Cairney, Larsson, Muniz, Kevin.
Ipswich Town boss Gary O'Neil, speaking to Match of the Day, said: "We were the better side, we should have punished them more in the first half. We gifted them two goals, then we responded unbelievable well.
"The goals [we conceded] were the only real disappointing part, a lot of errors for goals which has cost us but in terms of coming away from home, dominating the game, defending, attacking, I thought the lads were very good today.
"We knew they [Hull] would change [at half-time] and they were better than in the first half but they still were not better than us, we were the better team. It's a point on the road and I've watched a lot of Hull's games and not a lot of teams were as good with the ball as we were.
"It's tough to go away from home, we keep moving forwards and get ourselves ready for Bournemouth in the next one. The boys were excellent and mistakes will happen and it's just unfortunate that the only two errors we made both led to goals - I didn't like either of their two goals and the second one is preventable.
"I'm really pleased with where my team is at after that today. We were the better team away from home and that takes some doing. It's tough to be in control and find yourselves 2-1 down with the place bouncing. Our lads have some character and we just need to keep it up. Hull are a very good side and I'm really pleased with how we did against them."

Premier League Match Centre on X: "After VAR review, the referee overturned the original decision of yellow card to Mateta for the challenge on Van de Ven and issued a red card for serious foul play.
" VAR: “Point of contact is on the achilles, nowhere near the ball. He’s sprinting at speed and with intensity, the studs catch him flush on the achilles. I think it ticks all the boxes for serious foul play”.
"REF: “After review, Crystal Palace No.14 makes full, forceful contact with the studs on his opponent's achilles. The final decision is red card”.

What I will say in slow it always looks worse. In real time, it's an attempt at the ball.
Van de Ven almost runs across him, that point of contact on the Achilles, so I can see why they got to that.
For me, it's bordering on the harsh side because I don't think there was any intent there from Jean-Philippe Mateta.

On whether he would play Lisandro Martinez again...
No, I wouldn't, only because he looks like he has already gone.
His head isn't right. He is not going to be there long term, that is evident.
You have to put the club first. Michael has got to make some big decisions. You can't have a liability in your team.
People talked about Romero for years, and it is turning into that a little bit. That petulance, that behaviour on the pitch is not acceptable.
He has been poor for a while and he has had injury problems. He is not the answer.
Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen speaking to Sky Sports: "Unbelievable feeling. We go 1-0 up and then to hang tight the last 30-40 minutes we completely lost control of the game. The manager said this morning we have to dig deep and that's what we did. So happy to get over the line and can't wait to celebrate with the boys."
On if Brighton are in the title race: "We are on game nine so not really. We'll take it game by game. See what happens because we have loads of games. Just focussing every day on what's ahead of us and the job we have. We will continue to do that and see where it leaves us at the end of the season. We are happy with the way we are playing - not just the results but the way we are playing too. We have to continue to develop that style and ruthlessness and we can do great things."
On keeping a clean sheet: "Hard to point out one thing, the mentality to keep the ball out of the net - how hard we work. The amount of bodies put on the line today is incredible and credit to all the boys and staff and how hard we worked to keep the clean sheets. Hopefully we can get many more."
On if this was one of his best personal performances: "I don't know - it was a good game from all of us. Happy to help the team and make some important saves but I wasn't the only one. I think there were four or five shots blocked in an amazing way as well. Joint effort from everyone. We celebrate and go again."
Two great chances for Hull to retake the lead.
Firstly, Issa Diop does really well to clear the ball off the line after Ipswich captain Dara O'Shea had headed the ball goalbound past his own goalkeeper.
Then Tigers sub Brooke Norton-Cuffy almost finds the bottom corner, only to be denied by a superb save by a full-length dive from Christian Walton.
Tottenham Hotspur head coach Roberto De Zerbi makes just one change from the side that won so impressively at Chelsea, with Dominic Solanke coming in for James Maddison.
Maddison picked up a groin injury at Stamford Bridge, but it has not proved to be too serious and he is at least fit enough to be on the bench.
Tottenham XI: Kinsky, Robertson, Van Hecke, Tel, Gray, Tonali, Fernandes, Solanke, Kudus, Marmoush, Van de Ven
Subs: Dubravka, Senesi, Gallagher, Maddison, Udogie, Kulusevski, Porro, Davies, Williams-Barnett
For Crystal Palace, England goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who returned in the Carabao Cup win at Fulham after an ankle injury which had kept him out since September, continues in the Premier League in place of Walter Benitez, while Anan Khalaili is replaced by defender Oscar Mingueza from the side that lost at home to Newcastle United last weekend.
Crystal Palace XI: Henderson, Mitchell, Disasi, Canvot, Pino, McNeil, Mateta, Kamada, Wharton, Richards, Mingueza
Subs: Benitez, Lerma, Nketiah, Hughes, Osorio, Khalaili, Doucoure, Guessand, Chilwell
Ellen White
Former England striker on Final Score
Defending for Sunderland has gone wrong today. Making a lot of unforced errors.
Coventry have been brilliant. Jack Rudoni there with the goal from outside the box, they've come out of the blocks again.

Nikola Milenkovic seems to have been seriously rattled by the own goal.
The Serbian gave away a free kick in a dangerous area just minutes later.
Fortunately for him, Mathias Jensen clipped the crossbar after doing brilliantly to get it up and over the Forest wall from the edge of the box. A fraction away from a Brentford second.
Half time probably came at a good time for the defender; a moment to regroup.
After 37 minutes of not getting very close to the Ipswich goal, Hull get a corner and Town's Abdoul Ouattara has a wild swipe at the ball and is very relieved to see it slash wide.
From the next corner, Town goalkeeper Christian Walton comes for the ball and gets nowhere near it, but Ipswich knock it behind for a third successive Hull corner.
This time Ipswich striker Emersonn does well to head powerfully away at the near post. Better from the hosts.
Breakthrough for Brentford.
Caoimhin Kelleher sets the Bees on the attack with a brilliant diagonal ball that is picked up by Dango Ouattara, who waltzes past Murillo and then fizzes in a ball for Igor Thiago.
The Brazilian is waiting unmarked in the six yard box, but the ball doesn't get as far as him as Ouattara's pass takes a touch off Nikola Milenkovic and bounces into the goal.

Manchester United boss Michael Carrick, speaking to MOTD: "We were more in the game first half.
"Felt we should have been ahead. The game ended up getting away from us. The first goal is not a good goal to concede. After that, we never got the game to where we got in the first half.
"Not a good goal from our point of view at all."
On Lisandro Martinez's red card: "It has a major importance on the game. A huge moment. I think that is pretty obvious really."
On Bryan Mbeumo hitting the crossbar: "Probably summed it up really. Great strike from Bryan at the point. We would have been right in the game again. You back the lads to score, you back the lads to create chances.
"Bryan is one who epitomised how the game went."
On Bruno Fernandes: "I was happy with the team first half, especially individually in it. The discipline, the role, the quality of the football were all there."
Manchester United boss Michael Carrick, speaking to TNT Sports: "We didn't come out, and didn't get going in the second half.
"Half-time we could have and should have been up. Everything was positive as we hoped for.
"We could have made more chances. We looked in a good place and then found a way of unravelling the second half. A bad way to concede, penalty, and then we were right up against it at that moment. It turned right on its head.
"There is no hiding from the fact that we haven't won enough games. The boys were in a good place in the first half.
"I think we didn't start the second half particularly great. A bit scrappy and we didn't get going. They made first blow in the second half and in the end that goes on to be the difference."
On Lisandro Martinez red card: "I have not looked at it to be honest. I have not seen it."
On feeling let down by Martinez?: "No."
On the fans: "There is a lot of emotion, we're a great football club, and we want to win football matches. The supporters come, make a lot of effort, pay a lot of money to watch us play. You can see from today the boys had the game in the right place and things have gone against us.
"Things have gone against us, and gone against us in a big way. Unravelled quickly. A lot of emotion right now.
"We have got to move forward and take the things that worked for us today. A lot of the good things, especially in the first half and use that moving forward.
Does he think he will be in charge of the next game? "Yes."

It is easier to replace a manager than replace the whole team.
Unfortunately, when clubs do make the decision, generally it is the manager to go.
For me, this is not on Michael Carrick. It is a senior player being sent off, which is crazy.
Coventry City boss Frank Lampard makes four changes from last week's 1-0 defeat by Fulham.
Stephen Mfuni, Victor Torp, Yann Gboho and Taiwo Awoniyi all come in with Bobby Thomas, Matt Grimes, Brandon Thomas-Asante and Sidiki Cherif.
Coventry City XI: Rushworth; van Ewijk, Pinnock, Mfuni, Dasilva; Torp, Yirenkyi; Sakamoto, Rudoni, Gboho; Awoniyi.
Regis Le Bris has made one change to the starting XI that was held to a goalless draw by Leeds United with Omar Alderete coming in for the injured Nordi Mukiele.
Sunderland XI: Roefs, Hume, O'Nien, Alderete, Reinildo; Xhaka, Sadiki; Rigg, Le Fee, Angulo; Brobbey

Brentford head coach Keith Andrews makes one change to the team from their 1-1 draw at Hull City last weekend.
Midfielder Vitaly Janelt, returning from suspension after being sent off against Liverpool a fortnight ago. He replaces Aaron Hickey in the side, with the Scottish defender dropping to the bench.
Brentford: Kelleher, Kayode, Van den Berg, Ajer, Lewis-Potter, Sangare, Janelt; Ouattara, Jensen, Schade; Thiago
Subs: Valdimarsson, Collins, Hickey, Schuster, Nunes, Diouf, Anthony, Damsgaard, Wilson
There is also one change for Nottingham Forest from their 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town eight days ago.
The alteration comes at right wing-back, where Ola Aina starts in place of Daniel Munoz.
Nottingham Forest: Sels, Jair Cunha, Milenkovic, Murilo; Munoz, McAtee, Schlager, Williams; Gibbs-White, Ndoye, Delap
Subs: John Victor, Diomande, Munoz, Netz, Sangare, Yates, Kalimuendo, Hudson-Odoi, Wood

Manchester United must stay focused here.
They are playing well, they have had chances, they thought they were ahead but they are not.
They cannot take their foot off the gas and they cannot afford to get disheartened.
Joe Cole

I think Chelsea have left themselves short with two centre forwards, if you look over and there's not a centre forward on the bench it's not good.
With all the money they've spent, they're still short.

Bruno Fernandes could not have wished for a better opportunity than that.
Bryan Mbeumo's pass from the touchline was perfect.
Fernandes controlled and while he was running at pace, a player of his ability should be able to control his shot.
Sadly for Manchester United it was way off target. Michael Carrick talks about fine margins. How important a goal that would have been.
