The Brooklyn Nets have signed, drafted, and traded for players from virtually every state in the US, and much of the wider world beyond the United States. From Alabama to Wyoming, and from Australia to Ukraine, the Nets have a long and distinguished history of turning over every stone to find the talent needed to succeed in the NBA.
From their start in the American Basketball Association (ABA) as the New Jersey Americans and New York Nets to their jump to the NBA as the New Jersey Nets right through to today, the organization has cast their net for talent wide since the inception of the ball club.
For this installment of our series documenting the provenience of every Nets player to suit up for the franchise, let's take a look at every player from California who has played for Brooklyn.
Our focus in this article is Spencer Dinwiddie. An alum of Colorado, he was picked up with the 38th overall selection of the 2014 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons.
The Los Angeles, California native played the first 2 seasons of his pro career with Detroit before he signed with the Brooklyn Nets in 2016. His first stay with the team lasted until he was dealt to the Washington Wizards in 2021, with a stop with the Dallas Mavericks before he was dealt back to the Nets in 2023 for two more seasons.
During his time suiting up for the Nets, Dinwiddie put up 14.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game.
