Urvil Patel's domestic performances could strengthen his position at CSK ahead of the IPL 2027 mini-auction. The franchise is expected to retain the wicketkeeper-batter, who was bought for just ₹30 lakh at the auction. The retention deadline is November 17, 2026.
Patel made an immediate impact in his breakout IPL campaign. He finished the season with 197 runs in 10 appearances at an overall strike rate of 205.21, hitting 20 sixes and 11 fours.
One of his biggest moments came against Lucknow Super Giants on May 10, 2026. Patel smashed a 13-ball half-century to equal the record for the fastest fifty in IPL history. He also scored an unbeaten 42 off his first 10 balls, breaking the previous record of 41 runs jointly held by AB de Villiers and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
He eventually made 65 off just 23 deliveries in that innings. He also produced a remarkable sequence of seven consecutive deliveries in which he hit six sixes and a four, with the sequence reading 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 4 and 6.
