The Seattle Seahawks are leading the NFL's news cycle early this week thanks to their blockbuster trade for Indianapolis Colts star offensive lineman Quenton Nelson. Seattle leveraged the working relationship between Seahawks GM John Schneider and Colts interim GM Ed Dodds to land the eight-time Pro Bowl left guard. It's a good deal for both sides, as Seattle gets an instant upgrade on their offensive line and Indy gets much-needed draft capital for their impending rebuild.
But with this move, the Seahawks had to make room for Quenton Nelson. As a result, Seattle waived backup guard Christian Haynes. This news was broken by ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Seattle selected Christian Haynes in the third round of the 2024 NFL draft. At the time, Haynes was considered among the best guard prospects from that particular draft, and the assumption was he would eventually rise to the level of starter for the Seahawks. However, that never truly materialized. Haynes played in 16 games his rookie season but did not start even once. His sophomore season began well behind the eight ball as a stint on injured reserve kept him off the field until Week 11 lst year.
Now Haynes will be seeking his new NFL home. Although he may not have found much traction with the Seahawks, he will forever be a Super Bowl LX champion. We at Seahawks Wire wish him the best moving forward.
