“‘Oh My God, What?'” – Serena Williams’ Coach Can’t Believe What Jessica Pegula Went Through With United Airlines

Serena Williams’ coach, Rennae Stubbs, reacted to American tennis player Jessica Pegula taking a jab at United Airlines for poor communication and mismanagement.

Following an impressive season, Pegula has earned a spot at the year-end tournament, the WTA Finals, which begins on Nov. 8 in Indian Wells. However, her trip to California was marred by a mishap involving United Airlines. On Monday, Pegula penned her frustration on social media after the airline initially canceled the flight and asked the passengers to collect their baggage.

Pegula also mentioned that they had sat on the flight for more than two hours while it rained heavily. The airline unexpectedly reversed the cancellation and took off with the passengers’ bags still on board, which prompted Pegula to call them out.

“@united, explain to me how you cancelled our flight. You told us to go to baggage claim, and then you canceled the flight and took off with our bags. We also sat on the plane for 2+ hours in a torrential downpour when everyone else went back to the gate. Then baggage services had 0 clue what was happening and kept saying they would pull our bags. Meanwhile, the flight took off. Craziest thing I’ve ever seen.”

Stubbs was left stunned by the incident and reacted to Pegula’s post:

“Ohhhhh my god! 😂 what????”

Pegula will compete at the WTA Finals following her appearance at the Wuhan Open, where she was knocked out by Jelena Ostapenko 2-6, 7-6, 6-3 in the second round.

Serena Williams’ Coach Rennae Stubbs recommends changes in serve to Carlos Alcaraz

Rennae Stubbs recently suggested what Carlos Alcaraz needs to improve before the 2027 season amid his recovery from injury. She opined that the changes he made to his service technique, specifically after adapting Novak Djokovic’s style, may have led to the Spaniard’s injury.

“I think one of the reasons why he struggled so much with the wrist is because he changed his service motion and did the drop wrist like Novak Djokovic,” Stubbs said on The Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast. “I don’t know it for a fact, but I think these little changes took their toll on his wrist. So I think he is going to be struggling a little bit. I did say that at the U.S. Open, even when he played with Serena [Williams], I thought his serve didn’t have as much pop.”

Stubbs also suggested that Alcaraz use the off-season to improve his serve, especially on faster courts, which will help him win more Grand Slams.

“But I think, hopefully, for him, that will be something that he will be working on in the off-season, because he does need to improve the serve, particularly on a faster court. I think that is certainly a part of his game that he is going to have to improve if he wants to push Jannik [Sinner] when he makes it back and starts winning these Slams again.”

Alcaraz’s injury kept him away from the court for more than four months, forcing him to withdraw from the French Open and the Wimbledon Championships.
