RB Leipzig's Norwegian international Antonio Nusa has become the first player to reach ten combined goals and assists in the Bundesliga this season.

For a talented side seeking greater consistency, there can be no greater asset than an attacking talent who always steps up to deliver.

Antonio Nusa showed he can spearhead RB Leipzig's forward efforts with a goal and an assist in a 2-0 win at Schalke on Matchday 8.

The match-winning performance saw the 21-year-old become the first player to reach ten combined goal involvements this season.

The slickly taken penalty in the 37th minute and neat pass for Rômulo to wrap up the win were significant for an additional reason - they secured the first away win of the season for Martín Demichelis's charges.

After six goal involvements in his first season at Leipzig in 2024/25 and seven last time around, the 34-time Norway international is clearly blossoming in rapid time under his new coach.

He sounded like a man determined to go places after the match, telling the Bundesliga: "I train a lot. I believe in myself, but this is only the first step."

Having the complete faith of his coach must help, with Demichelis saying last month: "In my opinion, he's one of the best wingers in Europe right now."

The Argentinian added after his Schalke masterclass: "It's difficult to stop him."

That bodes very well for a Leipzig side who have moved inside the top four with the win and face three of their next four fixtures in all competitions at the Red Bull Arena they have thrived in this season - winning all five matches without conceding a single goal.

Nusa has every hope of shining when Leipzig host Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday and will surely fancy his chances of extending his joint-league-leading six assists when Augsburg visit in Leipzig's next Bundesliga fixture next Saturday.
