Omar Berrada could leave Manchester United

Manchester United are in a state of disarray, and further departures alongside the troubled Michael Carrick could soon happen.

Omar Berrada could leave Manchester United

Manchester United have slumped to yet another low.

A humiliating week has put senior figures at the club under more pressure than ever since INEOS completed its acquisition of a minority stake in 2024.

Losses in the UEFA Champions League against Como and in the Premier League against Bournemouth have left the club with a decision to make. The decision may come from beyond the Director of Football Jason Wilcox and Chief Executive Officer Omar Berrada.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be fuming. In 2024, the INEOS boss said, “If you look at the 11 years since David Gill and Sir Alex [Ferguson] stepped down, there have been a whole series of coaches, some of which were very good.

“And none of them were successful. And you can’t blame all the coaches.

“The only conclusion you can draw is that the environment in which they were working didn’t work.”

While head coach Michael Carrick’s future is in peril, the situation may mean the likes of Wilcox and Berrada may also not be safe.

Journalist for The Athletic, Adam Crafton, gave his thoughts on Berrada’s future on X, posting, “Hard to see how Berrada survives this too. He’s the CEO of an organisation that has got almost every football decision wrong since he’s been in the building. Apparently hired because he had expertise across both commercial and football.”

It’s a damning assessement.

If you read into Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s aforementioned comments and then take a look at the state of the club today, it’s only fair to think Berrada could be next on the chopping block.

Already unpopular with many at Manchester United after many roles were made redundant, those changes haven’t pushed the football club to be better.

Head coach Michael Carrick will surely leave, but Omar Berrada is a man under huge pressure now.
