El Clasico is rarely just another fixture on the football calendar, with Barcelona and Real Madrid understanding that every detail can become part of the rivalry.
From the atmosphere inside the stadium to the smallest moments before kick-off, both sides know the importance of making their presence felt on the biggest stage.
Barcelona head into Sunday’s showdown on October 25 with the chance to make a statement against their fiercest rivals.
The occasion also provides an opportunity for the Catalan club’s players to demonstrate what wearing the famous Blaugrana shirt means to them.
Nike has found a way to bring that personal connection into the spotlight, allowing several Barcelona stars to express their ambitions through their choice of footwear.
With anticipation building ahead of another meeting between Spanish football’s two biggest names, the players’ preparations have taken on an extra layer of meaning.
Barcelona and Nike have unveiled a special collection of personalised boots featuring individual messages chosen by the players ahead of Sunday’s El Clasico against Real Madrid.
The boots combine a clean white finish with turquoise detailing, but the words printed on each pair provide the collection’s most distinctive feature.
The messages range from declarations of ambition to expressions of loyalty, offering a glimpse into the mentality of the players preparing for one of the season’s biggest matches.
The collection includes several models from Nike’s Mercurial Vapor, Mercurial Superfly, Phantom and Tiempo ranges, with each player choosing an inscription that reflects their own journey or ambitions.
Rodri has selected the Spanish phrase “Nacido para esto”, which translates to “Born for this”.
Joan Garcia, meanwhile, will wear Phantom boots carrying the message “Missió #1: Guanyar”, meaning “Mission No. 1: Win”.
The younger generation also features prominently.
Xavi Espart has chosen “El somni continua”, translated as “The dream continues”, while Hamza Abdelkarim’s boots will carry an Arabic inscription meaning “History starts here”.
Both messages reflect the ambition to establish themselves and contribute to Barcelona’s future.
Alejandro Balde’s choice is more personal, with “Culer des del primer dia” translating to “A Culer from day one”.
The inscription highlights his connection to the club, while Joao Cancelo has opted for the straightforward declaration “Barca, sempre”, meaning “Barca, always”.
Frenkie de Jong’s message carries a different emphasis.
His Tiempo boots will feature “Otra noche, misma ambicion” — “Another night, same ambition” — a phrase that captures the determination to approach a major occasion without losing focus on the objective.
Karim Adeyemi has chosen “This is why I came”, while Gavi’s inscription sets a demanding standard: “El 100% no es suficiente”, or “100% isn’t enough”.
The collection adds a personal touch to the build-up to El Clasico, turning the players’ boots into a reflection of their individual mindsets.
