The NBA season got underway yesterday, and plenty of celebrities were in New York to see the Knicks get their rings, including comedian and long-time fan Tracy Morgan.

Prior to the game, Morgan joined the broadcast and had some interesting things to say about LeBron James’ son, Lakers’ guard Bronny James.

Many believe James would potentially be moving on with his father, but instead remains in Los Angeles with the Lakers.

James averaged 2.9 points, 1.2 assists and 0.5 rebounds in 8.9 minutes per game in 42 games last season while shooting 40.9% from the field. The postseason saw James play just 5.3 minutes per game, but he shot 50.0% from the field and gave Lakers fans glimpses of his potential as a role-player down the stretch.

Morgan, while talking with the NBC Showtime crew consisting of Maria Taylor, Carmelo Anthony, Vince Carter, and Tracy McGrady, brought up what he thought of James.

“Bronny look like he got JUCO ball written all over him,” Morgan said. “I just want to say what I feel, what you want?”

Bronny’s father, LeBron James, and the Philadelphia 76ers were in New York to take on the Knicks, a game won by the 76ers 106-100.

Afterward, NBA fans came to James’s defense.

“Bro what did Bronny do to him??”this fan asked. “Weirdo.”

Others didn’t necessarily go to name-calling, but did just find the whole situation strange.

“That wasn’t even funny fr lol more awkward if anything,” a fan posted.

Others feel like the James schtick is being taken too far, especially now that they no longer play on the same team. In fact, it’s leading some fans to cheer for Bronny’s success.

“He doing too much, guys like him is why i want Bronny to succeed,”this fan explained.

It also didn’t look like the NBC team enjoyed it much. This fan pointed that out with Anthony’s reaction.

“Melo wasn’t feeling that joke,” they posted.

Paul joined James’ inner circle when LeBron entered the NBA in 2003 and later learned the agent business while working around his representation. After LeBron was represented by Aaron Goodwin and then Leon Rose, Paul founded Klutch Sports in 2012 and became James’ agent.

“He definitely getting that call from Klutch Sports,” one fan wrote.

“Yall gonna keep playing wit klutch smh,” another said.

James and the Lakers will get their season underway on Wednesday night when they play host to Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors. Tip-off is set for 10:00 p.m. ET, and the game will air on ESPN.
