Manchester United came from behind to win against Roma, and the Italians are not happy with how it went down.

Any type of win would have done for Manchester United right now. But a stirring, come from behind 3-2 victory in the Champions League at Old Trafford was pure perfection.

Let's talk Manchester United RELEGATION

Roma felt they were on track for a historic win at Old Trafford, after previously losing 7-1 in 2007 and 6-2 in 2021.

At 2-0 down, United’s comeback started with a penalty in the second half after Matheus Cunha was felled in the box by Mancini.

Roma midfielder Cristante said he thought the penalty award was soft.

Speaking to TMW, he commented: “From the pitch it certainly seemed very, very light to me, especially considering we’re playing in Europe, where contact is called much less often. It seemed very light to me. I’ll see it again later.

“They definitely recharged after the goal and started strong. So that certainly helped recharge the atmosphere.”

Cristante added that Roma needed to do a better job of managing the game, and had themselves to blame for leaving Manchester with a defeat.

He said: “Yes, it’s a shame because, after all, we really had a great first half today. We could have walked away with the win, but, anyway, as I said before, we need to review it and understand where we need to improve.

“They have strong players. But we definitely had to do better, manage situations better in the second half.”

Decisions went United’s way, and Roma’s way

While Cristante felt this particular decision – and perhaps the penalty retake – went Manchester United’s way, others went in Roma’s favour.

There was an early decision that went against United in the first half, when a penalty was awarded against Ayden Heaven for a handball. Referees are notoriously strict with handball offences in Europe, and Heaven had no chance once the ball hit his hand.

United felt that Shea Lacey should have had a penalty in the second half when he was felled inside the box. But the referee waved play on.
