Who is Rangers' best-ever goalkeeper?
Rangers were prepared to be without Minsu Kim’s services at the start of 2027 because of his international commitments. However, it was confirmed on Tuesday that the Asian Cup is set to be postponed.
Initially, the 24-team tournament was expected to take place in Saudi Arabia between 7 January and 5 February. However, due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the decision has been taken to push it until the end of the year.
Had the tournament been going ahead, the 20-year-old would have been out for several games, handing McInnes and the Light Blues a potential blow. However, this development means that the manager will have the South Korea international’s services to count on, and that will give them a better chance of winning the title.
Had the tournament gone ahead, Minsu surely would have missed away league games in January against Dundee United and Aberdeen. He would have also missed the 23 January game at Ibrox against St Johnstone as well as the 3 February fixture at home against Kilmarnock.
While things have not been perfect for the youngster since his big-money move from Girona in the summer, he appears to have bought into McInnes’ plans, and it’s all about executing them. He has shown glimpses of his brilliance on numerous occasions, and the feeling is that once he scores his first goal, a lot more will follow.
