Bayern Munich and England striker Harry Kane once named a Premier League club as having the ‘craziest’ fans, who make their stadium the ‘most difficult’ to play at.

It’s now been three years since the 33-year-old left his boyhood club, Tottenham, behind to start winning trophies in the Bundesliga, having since added two league titles to his collection.

Although he is yet to win silverware with England and remains one of the best players never to have lifted the Champions League trophy, he could well be lifting the Ballon d’Or in the coming weeks, having enjoyed a sensational goalscoring year.

It’s safe to say Kane has moved beyond his days in the Premier League, when he was trying to carry Tottenham on his shoulders. But one fanbase from his years in England may have stuck with him more than most.

Having played plenty of Champions League football, Kane is no stranger to many different fanbases and their differing cultures. But during a street interview back in 2022, he couldn't help thinking that some supporters much closer to home were the craziest he'd experienced.

The interviewer wanted to know what the “hardest city to play in, with the craziest fans” was. Kane thought about it for a second before finding an answer. He said (watch the full segment below):

“What’s that, hardest city to play in? Maybe, Liverpool, I reckon."

While it is unknown where Kane was during the impromptu questioning, the interviewer's accent would suggest that he was perhaps not persuaded by his surroundings when crowning Liverpool - snubbing the likes of Everton, Manchester United, and Newcastle, who have all been credited among the best English fanbases over the years.

While rival fans like to claim Anfield's atmosphere is merely a myth these days, and that it just 'isn't like it used to be', plenty of players, managers, and pundits would suggest otherwise.

As an example, Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger were both left mesmerised by just how well they made noise in Madrid ahead of the 2019 Champions League final, which saw the Reds beat Kane and co. 2-0 to claim their sixth European honour.

True or False: 2025/26 EPL True or False

Elsewhere, Cristiano Ronaldo named Anfield as the "most intimidating Premier League stadium" he had ever visited, while Manchester City legend Pep Guardiola once claimed "you'll find an atmosphere at Anfield that you'll find nowhere else in the world."

While it may be true that England's football culture has somewhat faded in comparison to the terrace culture that lasted up until the 1990s, Liverpool fans still hold their own as some of the best in the world, especially on historic European nights - there's a reason they hardly ever lose in their backyard.
