Families v loyal fans - can women's football attract both?
Have your say banner

There's been plenty of debate recently about who women's football is targeting as its audience.

Social media marketing for the North London WSL derby between Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal has sparked plenty of online chat among fans.

One Spurs fan posted on X:

"I'm almost glad I can't make it, we'll never grow as a women's club if the entire marketing is for kids and families rather than young adults with disposable income."

The comment referred to a Spurs Instagram advert promoting "a big day out for the whole family", with DJs, free giveaways, football freestylers and face-painters.

Meanwhile, Brighton & Hove Albion women are promoting this weekend's match against West Ham at the Amex as a 'Saturday Spooktacular', featuring a haunted house, games and Halloween activities, with the caption 'perfect for you and the family.'

What do you think? How can women's football attract younger fans without alienating its loyal supporters?
