Borussia Mönchengladbach are reportedly prepared to double Wael Mohya's wages in a bid to secure a contract extension and fend off interest from Bayern Munich and other top clubs.
17-year-old Wael Mohya has caught the eye with his performances for Borussia Mönchengladbach, most recently playing a starring role in their 3-2 victory over VfB Stuttgart.
According to Sky Germany, Gladbach are ready to reward Mohya for his impressive performances with a new contract running beyond 2028 that would see his salary double.
The German youth international can currently earn just over €1 million per year, including bonuses, but Die Fohlen are prepared to offer him a new deal worth twice that amount.
An improved contract for Mohya would send a clear message that he is part of the club's long-term plans while also putting Gladbach in a stronger negotiating position amid growing interest in the teenager.
According to both Sky Germany and Bild, Bayern Munich are among the clubs monitoring Mohya's situation.
Bild reports that Bayern's sporting management have already made contact with the 17-year-old's representatives and would have a good chance of signing him should they decide to step up their interest.
However, if Gladbach manage to tie Mohya down to a new long-term contract, it could make it significantly harder for Bayern to prise him away from Borussia-Park.
