Callum Osmand revealed the Hoops hero messages him after matches and keeps tabs on his progress. The attacker scored twice in Celtic’s 7-1 win over Hearts, having impressed on the left flank in the Europa League defeat to Benfica days earlier.

Osmand said he is trying to model his game on the speedster, who he sees as the player he most wants to emulate. Maeda’s move has left a gap at Celtic, but Osmand is seeking to develop into a dangerous wide forward.

Osmand said: "Daizen would probably be the main guy that I would try and replicate. He messages me a lot to be fair. Every time I score he'll message me or every time he scores or does something I'll give him a message."

The youngster credited former fan favourite Jota and assistant boss Shaun Maloney with supporting his progress.

Osmand added: "Jota is a big help. I was speaking to him about where to be and different things. Shaun Maloney helps me a lot as well. We're quite similar in some ways and I speak to him regularly."

Celtic’s victory over Hearts saw Osmand continue in the role he had performed against Benfica and now he is itching to replicate it against Celta Vigo on Thursday night.
