'Unguardable,' 'MVP and Clutch Player of the Year' -- NBA World Raves As Jayson Tatum's Late-Game Heroics Power Celtics to 5th Straight Win

The Boston Celtics continued their winning run on Sunday, beating the Orlando Magic 108-97 at Kia Center for their fifth straight victory. Jayson Tatum led the way with a game-high 32 points, taking control late after Orlando threatened to make it a close finish.

NBA fans were quick to praise Tatum’s latest display, with some already bringing the MVP conversation into the picture.

NBA World Raves Over Jayson Tatum’s 32-Point Outburst vs. Magic

Tatum had another strong night, finishing with 32 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 blocks. He shot 8-of-19 from the field and went 15-of-17 from the free-throw line, posting a 60.4% true shooting percentage. More importantly, the six-time All-Star delivered in the clutch moments when the Celtics needed him most.

After a Desmond Bane layup cut Boston’s lead to 97-93 with 3:59 remaining, Tatum took charge of the closing stretch. He scored or assisted on nine consecutive Celtics points, starting with two pull-up jumpers.

The Celtics star then set up Neemias Queta for a layup and assisted on a three-pointer by Paul George as Boston pulled away.

The Celtics eventually closed out an 11-point win, extending their winning streak to five games after dropping their season opener. They now sit at 5-1, with Tatum playing a major role in the turnaround.

The NBA community showered him with praise after the win against the Magic.

The Hoop Central declared, “JAYSON TATUM IS COOKING. UNGUARDABLE.”

A sports content creator pointed to Tatum’s scoring run, writing, “The Celtics haven’t lost since opening day and Jayson Tatum is averaging 31 points over their 5 game winning streak.”

CelticsUnite highlighted the growing chemistry between Tatum and George, who scored 17 points, posting, “Jayson Tatum and PG’s chemistry.”

One Celtics fan page went even further with its praise: “Jayson Tatum is the MVP and Clutch Player of the Year can’t believe this is my life.”

LegendOfWinning also backed Tatum’s growing MVP case, writing, “Tatum might Win MVP.”

Another hoops fan took a dig at those who criticized Tatum over his season-opening performance, posting, “Never forget they tried to rewrite Jayson Tatum’s ENTIRE CAREER off 1 opening day game.”

And one NBA observer summed up the performance in two words: “Insane talent.”

The 32-point outing also marked Tatum’s third game with at least 30 points in his last five appearances.

The Celtics’ opening-night loss had given critics an early reason to question the team, especially after Tatum managed just 13 points on 6-of-23 shooting.

But Tatum’s response since then has been hard to ignore. Over that five-game winning streak, Tatum has averaged 31.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, and seven assists while posting a 61.1% true shooting percentage.

Tatum also had to deal with a brief injury scare against Orlando as he sustained a cut after bumping heads with Jamal Cain late in the first quarter and headed to the locker room.

However, he returned in the second quarter and went on to lead the Celtics to another win.

Meanwhile, Tatum’s early-season numbers are putting him in rare company. Through Boston’s first six games, he has become just the third player in Celtics history to average at least 28 points and seven assists.

If Tatum keeps producing at this level, the MVP conversation surrounding him will only get louder.
