Tottenham Hotspur finally got over the line and registered their first Premier League win of the season on their seventh attempt on Monday.
Goals from James Maddison, Omar Marmoush and Ben Davies helped Spurs beat Coventry 3-1 at home. The result has moved the Lilywhites out of the relegation zone for the first time this campaign and has taken some pressure off Roberto De Zerbi.
Spurs will be keen to build on that positive result on Saturday when they head across the capital to face bitter rivals, Chelsea. De Zerbi already has several injury problems to deal with ahead of the London derby. Savio and Lucas Bergvall have been ruled out for weeks with muscular issues, while Destiny Udogie missed the Coventry game with a minor knee issue.
Before the Coventry game, De Zerbi claimed that Pedro Porro could be fit to face Chelsea.
The right-back has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury that he sustained in the 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa before the September international break. The Spaniard was able to use the extended international window and fly to Spain to see a specialist to aid his recovery from a hamstring injury. He did tease an imminent return to action last week, although the 27-year-old missed out on Monday night’s game.

As per the photos released by the club’s official website, Pedro Porro is seen being put through his paces during a training session at Hotspur Way on Thursday. It would appear that the defender is in contention to make the matchday squad for Saturday’s high-stakes derby at Stamford Bridge.
De Zerbi is expected to provide an update on the 2026 World Cup winner in his pre-match press conference on Friday, though having his first-choice right-back available for selection would be a huge lift for him and Tottenham. Porro is rated among the best full-backs in the Premier League due to his mix of technical ability, composure, defensive diligence and leadership skills. With his distribution, vision and clever movement, his presence has a huge impact on the side.
Even if he’s deemed fit to return, whether De Zerbi would risk throwing Porro at the deep end against Chelsea remains a topic of debate within the fanbase. Recovering from a hamstring issue is often tricky, as there is always a chance of relapse if not handled carefully, so hopefully De Zerbi slowly reintegrates Porro into his squad.
