Chelsea could make huge leap towards Champions League return in run of rival games

Hopes were high for Chelsea this season as the summer went on.

An exceptional new manager had been appointed, good players had been bought, and a season without European football raised hopes of a bounce-back year to banish the memories of a nasty and depressing 2025/2026.

The season started well – with promising attacking football and a new energy at Stamford Bridge. But a four game run without a win before the international break put some serious doubt into the fanbase and pundits.

Since that three week reset period, however, things have really turned around. Chelsea are two wins from two and look to have solved some of the biggest issues they had at the start of the season. The return of Moises Caicedo has been as much of a game changer as people had hoped, and right now the odds on the Blues finishing in the top four are as good as they’ve ever been.

If you’re thinking of slapping down your mwos promo code on a big bet, now is the time to do it. If the Blues beat Spurs and Man U in their next Premier League games, they will have 19 points from 9 games, putting them on pace for an 80 point season. That would be enough to challenge for the title in a normal year, and while nobody expects the Blues to actually come close this year, it would represent an immense leap forward.

There’s more good stuff to come too. The European football factor in our favour has barely begun to kick in. As we get into the New Year and the extra games start to stack up for our rivals, our edge will only grow. Young players like Josh Acheampong are reaching new levels, and even players who have been around for a couple of years like Pedro Neto are finding roles that help them go to new levels.

It’s still early days, but so far the promise of the summer looks like it might actually be fulfilled. If the team are on the right track for something really special, there are the resources in place to make a splash in January too. That really would take the hype to a new level.

The Man U and Spurs games are followed by a Premier League game at Sunderland and a trip to Anfield in the EFL Cup before the international break. That will be the next major staging post of this potentially fantastic campaign.
