Man Utd striker Benjamin Sesko may not return to action before the New Year, according to reports.
The Sun claim that “well-placed sources” have told them that the Slovenian international could spend up to four months on the sidelines.
Sesko has already been unavailable for 5 weeks, but there is now a decent chance that the forward won’t be back until midway through January.
While there is optimism that the 23-year-old’s absence won’t extend to February, it still means he will miss a significant number of games.
Initial reports claimed that Sesko had suffered a recurrence of the shin problem that sidelined him at the back end of the 2025/26 campaign and pre-season.
However, Carrick subsequently revealed that the injury the forward picked up against Brighton in the Carabao Cup last month was slightly different.
Sesko has been undergoing tests to determine the length of time he will need to recover full fitness, and it now appears he could be ruled out for an extended period.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday ahead of the Champions League fixture against Como, head coach Michael Carrick said that he should have more information about the prognosis very soon:
“I’m not trying to delay [speaking about] it. Hopefully next time we speak, maybe not tomorrow, but by the end of the week, we’ll have something a little bit clearer. There’s a bit of work going on at the moment, so we’ll see what comes out of that.”
