UCI World Tour Riders Ranking Update: Pidcock makes a late top-5 claim, Widar flies up the ranking, but Tadej Pogacar retains the crown
Tadej Pogacar at the 2026 Vuelta a España

The UCI individual rider ranking brings the 2026 season to a close with Tadej Pogacar at the top, although there have been several notable changes among his closest pursuers. The Slovenian had to concede much of his lead during the final weeks of the season due to an injury-caused racing absence, but will still return in 2027 as world's no. 1 cyclist.

Tadej Pogacar ends the 2026 season as the undisputed leader of the UCI individual ranking. The UAE Team Emirates - XRG rider finishes on 9,331.8 points, more than 2,000 points clear of second-placed Remco Evenepoel on 7,191.6.

Isaac del Toro completes the podium with 5,606.5 points. However he lost quite a bit of stability in the ranking in recent weeks due to combination of mediocre season finish in Lombardia (28th), absence at Giro del Veneto he had won in 2025 (worth 200 points), and his rivals' strong finish; Paul Seixas won Lombardia, and Remco Evenepoel triumphed at Chrono des Nations.

Speaking of Seixas, the 20-year-old holds a fourth place with 5,580.4 points, almost level now with the Mexican. The Decathlon CMA CGM Frenchman ends the year as one of the peloton’s major revelations, just 26.1 points behind Del Toro. The narrow gap shows how closely has the third place been contested among the young stars.

Tom Pidcock makes the biggest move in the top 10. The Briton climbs to fifth on 4,411.5 points thanks to his second place overall at Tour of Guangxi, moving ahead of Jonas Vingegaard, who drops to sixth with 4,160.8.

Wout van Aert, Jasper Philipsen, Felix Gall and Mathieu van der Poel complete the top 10. None changes position from the previous ranking, although several add to their final points totals.

Christian Scaroni and Richard Carapaz climb the rankings

Some of the most interesting changes come outside the top 10. Christian Scaroni rises to 11th on 3,062 points, moving ahead of Richard Carapaz, who finishes 12th with 3,031.1. The XDS Astana Team Italian ends the year among the ten highest scorers overall, although he ultimately occupies 11th place in the ranking.

Mauro Schmid holds 13th place with 2,918.4 points, while Enric Mas drops to 14th. The Spaniard finishes on 2,798.1 points after a particularly strong end to the season, highlighted by second place at Il Lombardia and his victory at the Vuelta a España.

Vuelta a Espana 2026 final podium: Enric Mas, Felix Gall, Primoz Roglic

Lenny Martinez slips to 15th with 2,749.4 points, while Giulio Ciccone remains 16th on 2,728. Mads Pedersen is 17th, and Brandon McNulty makes one of the most notable gains among the top 20, climbing to 18th on 2,710.9 points.

Tobias Halland Johannessen is 19th, with Paul Magnier rounding out the top 20. The Soudal - Quick-Step Frenchman finishes on 2,452 points in a section of the ranking where the gaps between riders are relatively small.

Jarno Widar among the young riders to finish in the top 60

Among the riders who finish outside the top 40, Jarno Widar stands out. The Lotto-Intermarché Belgian finishes 57th with 1,302 points, after a season in which he recorded notable results in the Italian classics and won the general classification at the Tour of Guangxi. His progress puts him ahead of many riders with more experience in the professional peloton.

Matthew Brennan also deserves attention, finishing 28th with 2,020 points, while Giulio Pellizzari takes 29th with 1,950. Both belong to a generation that has come to the fore this season and end 2026 with strong positions in the ranking.
