Cooper Flagg left Friday night’s game against the Indiana Pacers after taking a hard hit. On Saturday, the Dallas Mavericks announced that an MRI revealed a mild left shoulder sprain.
The former Duke star will miss the Mavericks’ Saturday matchup against the San Antonio Spurs.
The reigning Rookie of the Year, Flagg started the season with 32 points, a season-debut record for a teenager against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday. On Friday, Flagg was on a breakaway when the Pacers’ Aaron Nesmith committed a flagrant foul.
Flagg had an injury-prone rookie season, missing 12 games due to various ailments. Still, he won the Rookie of the Year award, averaging 21.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. The 2025 Wooden Award winner was the No. 1 selection in that year’s draft.
He will be reevaluated next week.
