Glass bottles were lobbed at supporters on Argyle Street before the Europa League mach at Parkhead last night.

Chaos erupted in Glasgow city centre on Thursday (October 22) ahead of the Celtic v Celta Vigo game.

Football fans were seen charging towards each other on Argyle Street ahead of the Europa League match at Parkhead. Shocking video footage shows fans lobbing a number of glass bottles at other supporters.

Glass could be seen smashing on the road as hooded thugs in dark clothing run by. Screams from terrified passers-by could be heard in the clip as violence erupted shortly before the 8pm kick-off, the Record reports.

Thousands of Celta Vigo fans have arrived at Celtic Park, with it expected to be the Spanish club’s largest-ever away day following. It's currently unknown if there are any injuries.

Celtic's ultras group are not due to be in the stands for the game. In protest at the board, they confirmed in a statement they would boycott the remaining European home fixtures and all Scottish Cup matches.

Police Scotland was approached for comment.
