Backstage Update On WWE’s Reaction To The Rock Praising Tony Khan In PAC Tribute

Recently, it was reported that WWE legend and TKO board member Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson posted a video in which he spoke about the late PAC following the AEW star's passing. In this video, The Rock referred to AEW President and CEO Tony Khan as his friend and praised AEW for its growth into a phenomenal wrestling company. People within WWE were not upset by The Rock's comments; however, they were "surprised" by his remarks regarding Khan and AEW.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, individuals in WWE continue to bring up The Rock's comments about Khan on a weekly basis. Meltzer speculated that, for some, the impact of those remarks still lingers. He noted that everyone “understood” The Rock’s sentiments regarding PAC.

Meltzer also mentioned that while people have various theories about the situation, it appears that The Rock simply has a love for the wrestling industry. He likely wanted to express his condolences to those in AEW, where PAC worked, rather than remain silent due to the perceived "wrestling war" that he is not involved in.

In other news, it was noted that The Rock was initially scheduled to appear at WWE's tryouts in Hawaii; however, he did not attend. WWE had stopped advertising his appearance well before the tryouts and live events that occurred on October 16th and 17th.
