One of the star Papua New Guinea contingent at London Broncos has been tipped to depart the side during the off-season, in what would be a huge blow to the Championship powerhouses.
London still remain in the dark over whether they will be in Super League or the second tier next season, but whichever division they are put in, it looks like they will need to compete without key half-back Gairo Voro.
A report from ZeroTackle has stated that the 2026 Championship Player of the Year will leave the English capital to join the PNG Hunters in 2027, as he looks for a more direct pathway into the PNG Chiefs’ top 30 squad come 2028.
Voro, alongside teammates Morea Morea and Finley Glare, will all join the Willie Peters-led side ahead of their inaugural season, but have only signed development contracts as it stands.
The Kumuls international is currently off-contract under Jason Demetriou, and with his performances at the ongoing Rugby League World Cup putting him in the spotlight, a move to the Hunters would allow his future Chiefs’ staff to get a closer look at his ability.
The Hunters play in the Queensland Cup, but with so many of their players joining London ahead of 2026, it meant the side ended the season bottom of the table.
The PNG Chiefs have tied down big names such as Jarome Luai, Joey Manu and Brian To’o, but if Voro clinches a top 30 spot, he would become the first homegrown talent to play NRL first-grade at the club.
As it stands, both Morea and Glare are expected to remain with London for the 2027 season.
